The Mentor provides guidance, encouragement, and practical support to individuals as they work toward personal, educational, or professional goals. The Mentor builds a positive, trusting relationship with each mentee, serves as a consistent role model, and helps mentees develop confidence, skills, accountability, and independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish supportive, professional relationships with assigned mentees.
  • Meet with mentees regularly to discuss goals, progress, challenges, and next steps.
  • Help mentees identify realistic short- and long-term goals.
  • Provide guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback.
  • Model positive communication, professionalism, responsibility, and decision-making.
  • Connect mentees with appropriate resources, opportunities, and support services when needed.
  • Encourage mentees to develop problem-solving, self-advocacy, and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and protect confidential information.
  • Document mentoring activities, progress, and outcomes as required.
  • Communicate concerns or significant issues to the appropriate supervisor or program staff.
  • Participate in required training, meetings, and professional development.
  • Follow all organizational policies, safety procedures, and mentoring program guidelines.
Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and active-listening skills.

  • Ability to build rapport with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback while maintaining a supportive relationship.
  • Good judgment, professionalism, and appropriate boundaries.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Reliable and able to maintain consistent contact with assigned mentees.
  • Previous mentoring, coaching, teaching, counseling, leadership, or youth-development experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or relevant experience may be preferred depending on the program.

A successful Mentor creates a safe and encouraging environment in which mentees feel heard, respected, and motivated. Success is demonstrated through consistent engagement, strong professional relationships, progress toward mentee goals, and the mentee's increasing confidence and ability to make informed, independent decisions.
Compensation: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
